Product description: Luminaires for outdoor applications must comply with specific regulations and requirements to ensure safety, durability, and efficiency against adverse weather conditions, exposure to dust, humidity, UV radiation, vibration, and potential impacts. These luminaires are commonly used in areas such as roads, pathways, parks, facades, industrial zones, parking lots, tunnels, among others. Therefore, they must meet strict regulations and technical specifications.
Below are some of the requirements that must be met:
1. Minimum technical conditions for lighting systems in Colombia. RETILAP.
2. Technical requirements to ensure the safety of electrical installations. RETIE, NEC, NTC 2050.
3. Minimum IP protection IP65, IP66 - IP67 in tunnels or severe environments. IEC 60529 / EN 60529, RETILAP.
4. Minimum IK protection IK08, in industry, urban areas, or tunnels. RETILAP, IEC 62262 / EN 62262.
5. Temperature range -30°C to +50°C or more, depending on the application. RETILAP, IEC 60598-1, IEC 60068-2-X.
6. Electrical protection against overvoltages. RETILAP, IEC 60598-1, IEC 61000-4-5, ANSI C82.77-5-2015 Standard.
7. Luminaire marking (as applicable). RETILAP, IEC 60598-1, NTC 2230.
8. Glass refractors, if fractured, must break into small pieces or have a mesh or film to retain them. IEC 60598-2-3, UL 1598.
9. Must include UV protection. RETILAP, ASTM G154, UL 746C.
10. Evaluate the performance of outdoor luminaires, especially in terms of stray light and glare according to the BUG classification. IES TM-15-11 BUG classification Technical Memorandum.
11. Color temperature selection must be carefully chosen to protect fauna and flora, thereby minimizing environmental impact, reducing light pollution, and preserving the natural rhythms of ecosystems; ideally between 2200K and 3000K. CIE 150:2017, CIE 126:1997, RETILAP.
12. Vibration resistance. IEC 60598-1, UL 1598, ANSI C136.31, IEC 60068-2-6.
13. Consider the lighting requirements for outdoor workplaces. EN 12464-2 Standard, RETILAP.
14. Select luminaires suitable for applications in corrosive environments. ASTM B117 Standard, ISO 9227.
