Product description: For a luminaire to be suitable for the Clinical - Hospital sector, it must comply with specific regulations and requirements that guarantee adequate, efficient, and safe lighting for any activity carried out in medical centers.
The following are some of the requirements that must be met:
1. Minimum technical conditions for lighting systems in Colombia. RETILAP, RESOLUTION 4445 OF 1996.
2. In a hygienic space (cleanroom), luminaires must have smooth surfaces, without exposed screws, without holes that allow accumulation of dust, moisture, or bacteria; the body must be sealed and resistant to chemical cleaning products. ISO 14644-1.
3. Manufactured from resistant materials such as stainless steel or anodized aluminum. ISO 14644-1, Resolution 1160 of 2016 - Ministry of Health and Social Protection, USP 800, NSF P442.
4. Luminaire marking (as applicable). RETILAP, IEC 60598-1, NTC 2230.
5. Antimicrobial finish if necessary. ASTM E2180, ISO 22196 / JIS Z 2801.
6. IP rating must be IP44 minimum in common areas and IP65/66 in wet areas or operating rooms. RETILAP, UNE 60601-2-41, NFPA 99, IEC 60529 / EN 60529.
7. Polycarbonate or acrylic diffusers must be impact-resistant and resistant to cleaning products. ISO 14644-1, USP 797.
8. Suitable for use in laboratories that must comply with Biosafety Levels BSL from level 1 to 4. CDC/NIH BMBL.
9. Mounting should preferably be recessed to prevent dirt accumulation at the edges. ISO 14644-1.
10. Use color temperature between 4000K and 5000K with color rendering CRI>80, or CRI>90 in specific areas. EN 12464-1.
11. There are luminaires with specific wavelengths suitable according to the characteristics of the element to be handled. IEC 62471, EN 12464-1, EC 60601-2-41.
12. Lighting shall be uniform and symmetrical in the operating field; luminaires shall be positioned to obtain uniform illumination on the surgical table and their finish shall be smooth. Emergency lighting generated by an autonomous unit must be provided. EN 12464-1, EC 60601-2-41, NFPA 99, RETILAP.
13. Eliminate flicker to avoid visual fatigue in continuous work environments. IEEE 1789-2015, RETILAP.
14. In magnetic resonance imaging rooms, luminaires must be made of non-ferrous materials and must not generate electromagnetic interference that could affect image quality. IEC 60601-1-2.
